169th McDonalds Corners Annual Fall Fair

This Blanding’s turtle sculpture attracted attention at the McDonald’s Corners Fair on Saturday, after its debut at the Paddle & Party in opposition to pits and expansion on Barbers Lake near McDonald’s Corners. Rosemary Tayler designed the turtle, with Valya Timtsenko putting it together. The turtle, which represents a Blanding’s that some local residents say may be endangered by new and expanded pits in the area, may make appearances at community events, but for now makes its home in a barn for safekeeping.
